“Don’t Set Yourself On Fire, To Keep Others Warm”
Your hair is burnt; from all the times you clipped your own wings, forbid yourself to be free, just to make someone else happy.
You fingertips blistered, from all the times you forgot about your own needs and gave away what was meant to be yours. Even your voice has been roughened by the flame, no longer strong, but shaking and raspy, from all the times you wanted to say ‘no’ but said ‘Yes’.
You have set yourself on fire to keep others warm, but inside, your soul is shivering.
Ofcourse, that doesn’t mean you must completely abandon helping others, especially those in need. You can never live alone and all by yourself in the world, in the name of being selfish and self-caring. Don’t lose the meaning of life. As Mark Twain said, “Love like you’ve never been hurt; And live like its heaven on earth.“
BUT, you needn’t be a martyr all the time. Okay, and now you may think that people may regard you as ‘a cold and heartless creature‘, ‘a self-centered woman‘ and whatnot. Those are the ones who don’t give a shit about you anyway.
The world is in such a state that, when you give others too much, and even things beyond your reach, finally its you who’s out in the cold. You do this, because you’re afraid to make the jump.
Your body has been dissolved by fire. Must you burn your soul too?
Its no wonder you don’t feel secure with yourself. You’re afraid to acknowledge what you want from life.
Its time to change that. Take that last match, strike it and shine the light on the rusty cobwebs of your heart. Its time to find yourself and your need, thoughts, beliefs, desires, and honour them. Don’t let anyone stand in the way. Be bold, be brave. You live for yourself. And you live only once.
Let yourself trust you again, so your true self emerges from within the shadows. And then?
Watch, as you set the darkest parts of the world on blazing fire. The fireworks will be worth it all. I promise.
